Coffee and your heart health

ROANOKE (WSLS 10)  - Coffee is something many of us drink every day. A Carilion Emergency Doctor shared a new study with us about the health benefits. He says the study pulled a lot of variables like if a person smoked.

"Regardless of caffeine so decaffeinated or not there is a mortality benefit from cardiovascular events. So decreased strokes, heart attack and death for those people who drink 1 to 5 cups of coffee a day. It's not additive though so if you drink one cup of coffee you still get the same benefit of those who drink four or five," said Dr. Jack Perkins, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
