STAUNTON (WSLS 10) - Governor Terry McAuliffe has signed a bill that will help keep sex offenders away from schools and parks.
The bill expands restrictions, that keep violators from being within a certain proximity of children to offenders from outside Virginia.
Bill author, Delegate Dickie Bell says that the bill stems from a constituent who was frustrated that criminals from out-of-state were not held to the same requirements.
The law goes into effect on July 1st.
