A teen accused of shooting at a home and a local reporter's car in Bedford County is in court today for a preliminary hearing.  In October, dispatchers received a 911 call about shots fired into a home on Wheatland Road where Flint lived.  Another caller reported Flint was holding a rifle and ringing his doorbell.  Deputies arrived to find a fire burning behind a home near a propane tank and bullet holes in the home.  Dispatch later received calls that a man had shot at two cars, including one driven by a local news reporter.  No one was hurt and Flint was found nearby on Von Roy Road where he was taken into custody without incident.

The Credit Union Foundation of Virginia holds its Charity Golf Tournament today at the Roanoke Country Club.  Proceeds benefit the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center.

Non-profits in the New River Valley hope you will show your support for their programs today during the 4th annual GiveBigNRV.  Over 100 nonprofits will raise money to support their programs while competing for $14,000 in grants from the Community Foundation of the New River Valley.  Last year, more than $210,000 was raised in 24 hours.

VDOT holds a design public hearing today about realigning the "S" curves on Route 460 in Bedford County.  In addition to realigning the eastbound lanes, five crossover will be modified.  This is the same area where a tanker truck trashed in 2012, closing the eastbound lanes for several weeks.  The hearing takes place starting at 4:30 p.m.m at Montvale Elementary School. 

A send-off takes place today as the Virginia Tech Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team prepares to travel to Michigan.  The team will compete in the EcoCar 3 Year Three Competition.  Nearly seventy students have worked on the Camaro since the fall of 2014, working to redesign the car to reduce its environmental impact.  They will compete against 15 other teams in the Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition. 

Today is National Child Vehicular Heatstroke Awareness and Prevention Day.  According to kidsandcars.com, a child dies of heatstroke in a car every nine days.  Five kids have died from heatstroke so far this year.  Things you can do to keep this from happening to you are put something in the back seat so you have to open the back door to get it, ask your childcare provider to call you within 10 minutes if your child has not arrived on time and keep a stuffed animal in your child's car seat and move it to the front seat when your child is placed in the back seat.

The Montgomery County Democratic Committee will hold a debate between 8th House District candidates tonight.  Bryan Keele and Steven McBridge are facing off in the June Primary.  The debate begins at 7 p.m. At the Montgomery County Government Center. 

The man accused of threatening to burn a Danville church and kill some of its members is in court today for a bond hearing.  Arrest warrants show that on February 19th, Roy Womack threatened to burn the Remnant Church of Power and kill this pastor and another woman.  He is accused of making the threats on social media.  The department believe that Womack may suffer from mental health issues. 

The Western Virginia Regional Industrial Facility Authority holds a community meeting today.  The authority and the engineering firm, assisting in the site's master plan, will provide an update on the 106 acre property acquired by Roanoke, Salem and Roanoke County. Â
