Police searching for missing girl after she fled relatives

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - Police in Portsmouth, Virginia, are looking for a missing 12-year-old girl. Detectives said in a statement early Sunday that Tyra Harrell was last seen by her family just before midnight on Saturday.

The teen had fled from her home on Portland Avenue. Family members called police after they lost sight of her.

Tyra is black with brown eyes and long dreadlocks. She stands about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 75 pounds. She was last seen wearing plaid shorts and a black tank top.

Portsmouth police have asked anyone with information about her whereabouts to call 757-393-5300. If the info leads to an arrest, callers could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
