Tennessee congressman plans to introduces articles of impeachment against Trump

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Democratic congressman from Tennessee says he'll introduce an impeachment resolution against President Donald Trump when Congress returns next month.

Steve Cohen and 29 other Democrats had filed a no confidence resolution back in July, listing 85 instances in which they claim the president violated the duties of his office.

But the congressman says the president's statements following the Charlottesville violence demand that an impeachment resolution be introduced.

"There's nothing more important than the democracy.  And the democracy's at risk with this man as president. He doesn't understand America. He doesn't understand his job as president. He is morally, ethically and intellectually incapable of being president of the United States of America. He needs to resign," said Cohen.

There is little chance of any such resolution receiving a House vote, with the Republican majority and House Speaker Paul Ryan running the chamber.

California Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman has already filed a separate impeachment resolution, claiming obstruction of justice in the Russia probes following the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
