Round Town: dinosaurs, food and wine

(WSLS 10) - Step back in time to the Jurassic era at the Berglund Center this weekend. More than 80 realistic, life-sized dinosaurs from the Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous periods will be set up for Jurassic Quest. In addition to the reptiles, you can take part in a huge fossil dig and enjoy the Dino Bounce and mazes. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets start at $20.

The New River Polar Plunge Fest is Saturday in Radford. If you are brave, you can jump into the river, while raising money for Special Olympics Virginia. In addition to the freezing cold water, there will be a DJ, hot chocolate and more to warm you up. It's $100 to make the plunge.

The William Byrd Players present Little Women. The show begins Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.

The Academy Center of the Arts in Lynchburg is home to Pairapalooza. The event shows you some of the best wines to pair with your favorite foods. Several local chefs and wineries will be there. It's Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets cost $40. Proceeds benefit the academy.

Wytheville Community College holds its monthly Bluegrass and Old-Time Jamboree on Saturday. The Loose Strings Band and The Crooked Road Ramblers will play. The show begins at 7 p.m. and is free.
