Teen killed in fatal crash in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Botetourt County. Troopers said the crash occurred Sunday at 1:10 a.m., on F-055 less than a mile south of Route 608.

According to officials, a 2006 Ford Mustang was traveling south on F-055 when it ran off the left side of the road, struck several trees and an embankment. The Mustang then overturned across the roadway and came to rest upside down in the roadway.

Police said the driver, Trystan B. Lowdermilk, 17, of Buchanan, Va., was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was flown to a nearby hospital, where he died later Sunday morning.

A 16-year-old female passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and was also ejected from the Mustang said police. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
