Outback Mulch is offering a $2,000 reward in this case

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – The Bedford County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two businesses reported having equipment stolen.

Both businesses are in the Stewartsville area of the county.

The thefts occurred either the night of June 22, or early morning hours of June 23, according to authorities.

Outback Mulch, at 17750 Stewartsville Road, reported a Caterpillar 246 Skid Steer stolen, and Powers Tractor and Equipment, at 17690 Stewartsville Road, reported a Kubota RTV, Honda Four-Trax 2WD 4-wheeler and a Honda Rancher 2WD 4 wheeler stolen, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Outback Mulch is offering a $2,000 reward for the apprehension, conviction and recovery of the skid steer.

"I was here Thursday working and when I closed down at 5:30 I went and I went home and we came back out later evening at about 8 o'clock it was still here," said Candice Riggs.

But when Candice Riggs and her father came to work the next morning, the expensive piece of equipment was gone.

"That's all we had at the time and then he has another machine to take its place but you know he just started calling around trying to figure out if anybody saw anything," said Candice Riggs.
