Halloween events in Southwest Virginia

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - It's Halloween and there are several events happening across Southwest Virginia.

Roanoke parks and recreation will host the first trunk or treat at the eureka park recreation center. Dozens of cars will be parked so kids can trick-or-treat out of the trunk. More than 200 costumed children and their families are expected to attend. Roanoke Fire and EMS will be there with fire trucks to explore and Roanoke Public Libraries will be there handing out free books. It runs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

You can also take the kids to uptown Martinsville tonight for trick-or-treating. Streets will be closed to allow the kids to safely walk from business to business collecting candy from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Kids in costume will also hit the streets to Trick-or-treat at more than 40 businesses in downtown Vinton. The annual event is fun for the kids and it also stimulates business for local shops. The event is organized by the chamber of commerce, parents say it's a safe way to let their kids enjoy the holiday.

Today is the last day to get your hands on Starbucks' most frightful Frappuccino. The vampire-inspired drink is called the "Frappula Frappuccino and first appeared at Starbucks for Halloween last year. The spooky blended beverage layers white chocolate mocha sauce, milk and ice between mocha sauce and whipped cream and a drizzle of raspberry syrup.

IHOP is also offering a special Halloween treat. Today kids 12 and under will get a free scary face pancake. This is a design your own pancake that includes a whipped cream mouth and strawberry nose along with mini oreos and candy corn so kids can decorate it how they want.
