CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – TSA agents cited a Rockbridge County man who they say had a handgun in his carry-on bag at the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport on Tuesday.
Officers detected a .22 caliber pistol, which was not loaded, in his bag as he was entering the security checkpoint.Â

He was cited on a weapons charge.
This was the second firearm caught at the airport this year.
Travelers who bring firearms to the checkpoint are subject to possible criminal charges from law enforcement and civil penalties of up to $12,000 from the TSA.
