Bedford plant closes, 40 people lose jobs

Valley Processing is custom mixed rubber compound supplier

BEDFORD, Va. – A Bedford plant has closed, causing 40 people to lose their jobs, according to Bedford town manager Charles Kolakowski.

Kolakowski said Valley Processing shut down Thursday after the company was acquired by an international company. As part of the acquisition, the work there will be consolidated at other locations.

Valley Processing was a custom mixed rubber compound supplier.

Kolakowski said he plans to work with the affected employees to make sure they're taken care of with benefits and any training opportunities for future employment.

WSLS 10 contacted Valley Processing's parent company, Mitchell Rubber Products, but the call has not yet been returned.
