Lynchburg police: Man uses knife in defense, sends two to emergency room

LYNCHBURG, Va. – UPDATE

Jonathan D'Shawn Reynolds, 26, of Lynchburg, is now also charged in this incident.

He is charged with malicious wounding and malicious wounding by mob. 

Reynolds is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond. 

Police are not anticipating any further charges. 

ORIGINAL STORY

Lynchburg police have made arrests after they say a man used a knife to defend himself. 

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Forest Brook Road around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday. 

A man told police he was walking when he was surrounded by three other men. He said he pulled his knife out while he was being assaulted by one of the men. 

Two of the three suspects were taken to the Lynchburg General Hospital's emergency room for stab wounds. 

One of them, 26-year-old Lynchburg resident Jonathan D'Shawn Reynolds, has life threatening injuries. Charges are pending. 

Thomas Edward Tanner Jr., 25, of Lynchburg, was stabbed in the shoulder and is expected to be OK. He is charged with one count of malicious wounding and one charge of malicious wounding by mob. 

Dominique Lavert Saunders, 28, of Lynchburg, is also charged with malicious wounding and malicious wounding by mob. He is not injured. 

The victim was treated for injuries to the face that were not life threatening. Police say he will not be charged.
