Mom of Pulaski baby with symptoms of shaken baby syndrome sentenced

Manning was indicted on July 13, 2015

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. – On Monday, a Pulaski mother learned how long she'll be in prison for an incident wherein her then 8-month-old suffered "severe and life-threatening injuries" in 2015.  

Tuesday Manning will serve 14 years in prison on two charges for which she previously entered an Alford plea in August 2016.

She was sentenced to 20 years, 10 suspended, on the aggravated malicious wounding charge and 10 years, six suspended, on the malicious wounding charge.

According to search warrants, 8-month-old Ava Edwards suffered brain bleeding, as well as arm fractures and a possible skull fracture in June 2015.

Manning told investigators Ava fell off a diaper-changing table.
