Roanoke police chase ends in multicar crash in Salem

SALEM, Va. – Two people have been hospitalized after a police chase ended in a crash, according to Roanoke police.

An officer attempted to pull over a red sedan on Peters Creed Road at about 3:30 p.m. for speeding; however, police say the driver didn't stop, and instead, led police on a chase that went into Salem.

The driver of the red sedan and a passenger in the car were taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The multicar crash that resulted from the chase has closed Route 419 South in Salem.

The crash, which involved four cars, happened on Electric Road near the intersection of Apperson Drive.

Police are at the scene controlling traffic.
