The man demanded that the clerk give him all the money in the register and while the clerk says he didn't see a gun, he told police that he had "something in his pocket and was pointing it at her."

The man then left the store and headed toward Northeast Bethel Road

The clerk told authorities that this all happened in about 30 seconds.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit also responded to the store and was able to get a scent of the suspect.

He was tracked to the Kings Bridge Landing boat ramp on the northeast end of town about a quarter mile from the store.

When authorities arrived at the boat landing, the K-9 lost the scent.

Police believe that the suspect likely got into a car at that location.
