Police seize guns, drugs and cash in Danville

Also among the items was a soda can with a secret compartment

Danville police say they seized these items executing four search warrants on Saturday, May 20, 2017.

DANVILLE, Va. – Police seized guns, drugs, cash and more while executing multiple search warrants in Danville Saturday, according to the Danville Police Department

The department credits information received from the public for leading it to the four different locations.

The searches resulted in police seizing five handguns (one of which was reported stolen), more than 200 rounds of ammunition, cocaine, synthetic narcotics, marijuana, $1,860 in cash, digital scales, gang paraphernalia and a soda can with a secret compartment.

Four people were charged with misdemeanors, including disorderly conduct and an outstanding larceny warrant. Police expect more charges to be filed.

Following court proceedings, the weapons and drugs will be destroyed in accordance with state law.  The stolen firearm will then be returned to the rightful owner.

Police executed the warrants at residences in the 100 block of Girard Street, 800 block of Stokes Street, 500 block of Southampton Avenue and the 4100 block of Riverside Drive.
