Valley Star Credit Union pays for people's meals at Biscuitville in Martinsville

Credit union has more events planned this week to spread holiday cheer

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – A local credit union is helping spread some holiday cheer this week.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Valley Star Credit Union is doing various activities to give back to communities across southwest Virginia.

On Tuesday, the credit union paid for people's meals at Biscuitville in Martinsville.

Employees also handed out Starbucks gift cards at a Starbucks in Roanoke and made a donation to a Danville child battling cancer.

"I was really surprised. Really surprised. (They) must've known I needed the money when I got ready for breakfast," Biscuitville customer Alphonso Abbott said.

"We were actually headed to the DMV to get a new license. Not the greatest place to go, so we stopped here for breakfast and we were treated," Biscuitville customer Teddy Herskovits said.

The credit union has events planned in Danville Wednesday and Danville and Roanoke Thursday.
