Gas prices spike over Labor Day holiday weekend

Hurricane Gustav and the Labor Day holiday weekend combine to cause a spike in gas prices.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline jumped seven cents over the three-day weekend in the Roanoke region. The average price stood at $3.55 per gallon as of Tuesday morning.
The state average increased three cents to $3.53, while the national average only went up a penny to $3.68.
