The Roanoke region set a new record high for gas prices over the weekend.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline spiked to $3.19 on Sunday, in the Roanoke region. That price dropped two pennies to $3.17 as of Monday morning.
The Roanoke region ties the Norfolk region for the cheapest average prices in the state. Both the Richmond region, and the Charlottesville region stand at $3.21 per gallon. That $3.21 mark is the all-time record high for the Richmond region, but seven cents below the Charlottesville region’s all-time high.
Virginia’s overall gas price average stands at $3.20 per gallon. That’s the Commonwealth’s all-time record high. It’s the same average price that the state stood at on Friday, according to AAA.
The national average for gas stands at $3.28, one penny below the national record set on Sunday of $3.29.
