Southwest Virginia inches closer to the dreaded $4.00 per gallon average, after setting a new record high for gas prices overnight.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the Roanoke region now stands at $3.95 per gallon. That’s an increase of a penny overnight. At this time last month, AAA says the Roanoke region averaged $3.88 per gallon. One year ago, drivers paid an average of $2.76 per gallon.
Virginia’s overall average according to AAA stands at $3.99 per gallon. It did not change overnight.
The only region in Virginia tracked by AAA that is at or above $4.00 per gallon is the Charlottesville region. Its gas price average went up a penny to $4.01 per gallon.
The Roanoke region is tied with the Norfolk region for the cheapest average in the Commonwealth.
