ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Law enforcement throughout the Roanoke Valley made the holidays brighter at the Goodwill of the Valley's day program.

All involved in the program are adults with special needs. Goodwill Industries of the Valley is a non-profit organization that helps people with disabilities get assistance and training for jobs.

Police spent the morning helping participants in the program make ornaments and Christmas packages.

The event is part of the regional law enforcement summit's holiday service day.

"It's about being inclusive with everyone in our community, and it's very satisfying that you can come be with people and learn as much as you can offer," says Chris Perkins, Roanoke city chief of police
