Martinsville Police Investigate Two Shootings

Martinsville Police say they are investigating two unrelated shootings that happened withing 30 minutes of each other on Tuesday night.
They say both of the shootings happened between 7:10 p.m. and 7:40 p.m.
One of the shootings happened at the Rivermont Apartments on Fayette Street.
A 19-year-old Taniel Irby of Fieldale was shot in the leg.
He was taken to the hospital in a private car driven by a woman named “Tina.
His condition isn’t being released.
Irby tells investigators he was standing, along with a large group of people, outside of the apartment complex in front of breezeway and by a dumpster close to building number four when he head a shot fired.
He says that’s when the crowd of people scattered and he realized he had been shot.
Police say there is no firm evidence to support his story at this time.
Police were unable to talk to any witnesses and no weapon has been recovered.
The second shooting happened at a home on Clift Street.
That shooting has been ruled a domestic dispute.
Police say two shots were fired inside the home, but no one was hurt.
