William Morva was arrested just before 4:00 Monday afternoon, after a day of intense searching and high anxiety in Blacksburg.

Blacksburg police say Morva shot and killed two people since Sunday morning.

Police arrested Morva near the new Virginia Tech rugby field, close to the airport. He is in custody tonight.

On Sunday, Morva escaped from police custody, killing a hospital security guard and injuring a police officer during the process.  More information

Monday morning, the escaped prisoner shot and killed police Corporal Eric Sutphin on the Huckleberry Trail near the Virginia Tech campus. Police barricaded the area and began an intense search for Morva.

A reported sighting of Morva in or near Squires Student Center lead police to surround and search that building.  The Virginia Tech Campus is now closed, as are several other organizations in Blacksburg.
