We’re on your side with City Magazine’s round town.
FRIDAY
1. A special middle of the month edition of First Fridays.
The Llyod Dobler effect will be playing.
It’s at the rail side plaza in downtown Roanoke, starting at 5:30 p.m.
2. Smith Mountain Lake summer concert series:
Rock and roll legends Styx play across from Mariners Landing.
Tickets are $30 before, or $35 at the gate.
SATURDAY
1. Douthat State Park hosts back to school beach bash
Activities will include a toilet paper toss, hula hoop contest, sculpting, water balloon toss, and a cardboard boat regatta.
Free hot dogs at noon. The event starts at 11:00 a.m.
2. 2nd Annual Salem Star-B-Q Festival (SOLD OUT)
Salem Farmers Market
Starts at 4:00 p.m.
Tickets: $12, children under 10 get in free
3. Cage-Fest 5, Star City Showdown
Roanoke Civic Center
Starts at 7:00 p.m.
4. Smith Mountain Lake summer concert series:
Country group Lonestar plays
Tickets: $25 early, or $30 at the gate
