Q: The TODAY show & also the 6:30 national news were talking about wanting women to sign up for cancer research. They gave an email address to register. I was not able to get it & was wondering if you might know it.

A: I did some checking and found the website you are looking for. It is www.armyofwomen.org. Basically, The Dr. Susan Love Foundation has teamed up with Avon to create a movement called “Army of Women.” The goal is to get as many women as possible to sign up for the “army” so that scientists studying breast cancer will have easier access to a pool of potential participants for research. All women are encouraged to sign up. You will then be notified if a study is going on nearby that you would meet the qualifications for.
October is breast cancer awareness month and there are several organizations out there that support people in our local communities. Find links to those groups on line through http://www.wsls.com click lifestyles and then health.
