Good news about the man who helped shpae Virginia Tech into the research institute that it is today.
Former university president Paul Torgersen tells Hokies head football coach Frank Beamer that he is cancer free. Doctors diagnosed Torgersen with throat cancer back in May.
“I know everyone who knows Paul has had him in their thoughts and prayers, and that was just great news for us there in the football office,“ coach Beamer said during his weekly news conference on Tuesday.
Beamer says Torgersen made a special visit to see him.
Ironically, Torgersen received treament for his cancer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, who the Hokies play on Saturday.
