Laurel Fork Health Commission has announced the purchase of land for the future site of the Floyd Community Health Center. A new 6000 - 7000 square foot facility will be built on 3.8 acres on Christiansburg Pike in Floyd.

Robert Rogers, president of Architectural Alternatives, will lead the project with bidding expected to begin in December 2008 and completion by October 2009. Services at the new facility will include primary health care, x-ray, laboratory and counseling.

Floyd Community Health Center is operated by the Laurel Fork Health Commission, a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation. Community fund raising projects will be held and donations are tax deductible. The health center is partially supported by grant funding from the Bureau of Primary Health Care. The health center is open to all community residents.  Medicare, Medicaid and private insurances are accepted.  Reduced cost services are available to those who qualify based on family size and income.

The health center opened in March 2008 at 216 Parkway Lane South beside the Jacksonville Art Center. Dr. Lorrie French and Beth Hubbard, CFNP provide primary and preventive health care Monday-Friday. Patients may call 540-745-9290 for an appointment.
