Since running my first half marathon in Roanoke last year I have run several races since but not one of them was as grueling as the 13.1 miles… as November started rolling around and the date for this years run got closer I thought.. “I’ve done that race so I don’t really need to do it again..“ part of me was scared that I might not be able to do it again… the furthest I had run in a while was 8 miles in a day..

On a whim I asked my friend Alison at work if she wanted to do a ten mile run with me two weeks ago on a Saturday… to my surprise she was up for it… if you remember the weather two weeks ago it was raining steady even hard at times that morning… we stuck it out and finished the whole ten… it was a good feeling..

We didn’t make any definite plans to run the half marathon but as the week wore on we both were up for another ten miler… so after two weeks of long runs we are going to go for the 13.1 which means another couple of weekends with long Saturday morning runs… I have been logging over 30 miles a week for the past couple of weeks… tonight though I think I hit a bit of a wall on training…  When I got done with four at the gym I felt sick to my stomach… perhaps it was the apple I ate before (too close to the workout) maybe I was dehydrated..(too much coffee throughout the day) or maybe my body is just a little tired..

I know one thing… I won’t be logging any running miles tomorrow… it has taken me a while to get used to resting hard but I can tell I need it.. Jeff says the weather is going to be so nice I may just take a little walk to enjoy it…
