This weekend was so fun for many different reasons… one of the funnier moments came just before we started getting ready for the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival… Luckie wanted out… the last thing I remember hearing was Matt saying, “I wonder where our dog is…“ then he came scratching at the door and Matt said… “Uhh, I’m not sure what to do here.“
I looked over and saw Luckie’s white belly and paws completely covered in red mud… I mean covered… I immediately drew him a bath… poor thing was over due anyway… little did I realize I would be in equal need of a bath or at least a change of clothes and shoes in the hours to come..
Matt and I went to the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival on Saturday… we thought we would be weather savvy and go later in the afternoon… well we got there around 2:00pm and at that time it went from a fine mist to a steady drizzle…
The field for parking had turned into a mud bog but we had the Jeep so it didn’t seem to bad… until I stepped out of the car with my “cute” shoes on… why on earth would I ever wear “cute” shoes to walk around a rainy field? Matt had offered to turn around after we left the house so I could change but I opted to keep the cute shoes.. if you could see them now… they are mud covered cute shoes…
Anyway there were hundreds of people sloshing through the mud listening to the band play… I felt kind of bad for the wineries that had traveled several hours for the festival… most of the people had a vague look of disappointment as they described to me the aromatic blends and fruity tones their different wines featured… it was funny when a man from a vineyard in Brookneal looked at my husband as I was tasting the Rose they offered and said, “What are you drinking?“ Matt replied, “A nice aromatic blend of flavors with some not-so-fruity overtones - a chocolate milkshake.“
We had fun… got home… watched the Hokies win which was awesome… then we went wake-boarding on Sunday… the water was a bit cold but the lake was calm and just plain awesome… then the Redskins beat the Cowboys… I mean the weekend just kept getting better… we grilled out both nights and are just enjoying the last bit of warm weather before the big chill hits which seems to be coming sooner rather than later… hope your weekend was fun too!
