I was on my way home from work talking to my mom on my cell phone… got to the end of my driveway and checked the mail… I noticed red flashing lights out of the corner of my eye turning into our neighborhood… the first thing I thought was… wonder who needs an ambulance… I started to pull down my driveway and noticed our garage door was open which is odd… then I noticed the ambulance was slowing down and turning into MY driveway… I quickly pulled out of their way… the two men jumped out and all I could get out to them was “This is my house… the thoughts in my brain moved as fast as my heart was beating… I knew it couldn’t be Luckie in trouble.. because you don’t call an ambulance for your dog… I thought what has happened to Matt? and felt the world spin…
The two EMS workers said the house number they were looking for… an immediate wave of relief washed over me as that number does not match our address… When they saw me at the end of the driveway they thought I was waiting for them… to show them where to go… as soon as they realized the errore they were backing out as fast as they had pulled in… the front door swings open and it’s Matt.. he thought something must be wrong with me… we both took a moment to be thankful for the false alarm…
We still don’t know why the ambulance was called to our neighborhood but as I walked in… since I had already told Matt how glad I was that he was okay… I reached down… patted Luckie on the head and said… “Hey, buddy… I thought something had happened to you…“
