Many people are getting ready to head back to work after a long holiday weekend… I kind of did my weekend in reverse.. I had off Friday and Matt and I saw Jimmy Buffett live at Nissan Pavilion near D.C. the “Labor Day Weekend Show” was great… we got back late Sunday afternoon… Matt was off today and I was coming into work this afternoon so we spent the morning enjoying the weather… we were eating breakfast outside on our deck when I saw this flower over his shoulder… it caught my eye because it is split right down the middle… I’m not sure why… but I thought it was so interesting… a bright spot in a fading season…

As I look around and we unofficially wrap up summer… the signs of fall are becoming more evident.. for the first time I noticed brown leaves on the deck that need to be swept up… the blooms on my hydrangeas look like a pale wilted stiff version of the vibrant pinks and blues from just a couple of months ago… and the low temperatures at night are dipping into the 50s…

Football season has started… and the cooler nights are great for camp fires and roasting marshmallows… I guess the end of summer isn’t all bad…
