We all have something that has been affected by the dry weather… whether it is your lawn or flowering plants or your livliehood as is the case for many farmers… today as I left my house the rain was a welcome sight but so far there doesn’t seem to be enough to make much difference in my backyard… now that is likely to change in the next couple of days…
As I was driving over a bridge that covers Gills Creek in Franklin County I was compelled to pull off the side of the road and snap this picture of what looks more like a stagnant stream than a flowing creek. The last time this part of the creek got this low my husband saw a farmer walking along the mud trying to get one of his cows that had escaped and was grazing in a spot that is normally underwater…
While I know I looked a little silly with my cell phone poised to take a photo off this bridge the friendliness of people in our area never ceases to surprise me… as a gentleman in a red pick up was driving by he slowed just to ask “Whatcha need?“ I guess he thought I was broken down or something… I quickly said.. I’m just taking a picture… as soon as he had slowed he picked up speed and kept going… I smiled to myself thinking about the helping nature many people have and being thankful for it…
