I wasn’t on the 11 o’ clock news Tuesday night because I was on my way back from the Taste of Home Show sponsored by our media partner Community Newspapers of SWVA.  The trip took about an hour and fifteen minutes one way but it was well worth it.  Everyone made me feel so at home.  As a matter of fact I really wasn’t that far from home.  I called my mom on my way there as I passed the exit I take to go home to Blacksburg for visits.

I didn’t know what to expect once I got to the Wytheville Community Center.  When I got there the first part of the show was about to wrap up and I was going to be hosting the second half.  They had a beautiful corsage for me to wear (I couldn’t put them on in highschool and I can’t put them on now) I needed a little help with that… but once I got into the auditorium it was like live TV without the cameras.

The door prizes ranged from savings bonds and gift certificates to cook books and theater tickets.  I told stories about my cooking blunders as I watched the Culinary Specialist, Cheryl Cohen effortlessly prepare Pumpkin Tiramisu and an Almond Cream Cheese Bundt.

Thanks to everyone for making me feel so at home!

If you have a fall favorite recipe you would like to share feel free to send it my way…

Karen,
I was in attendance of the Taste of Home show, well for most of it. I was a vendor at the pre~show, and got to stay for a little of the demo itself. You were funny, witty, and charming. Having lived in Roanoke for 12 years myself (from 1992 to 2004) it was nice to see you again down here in our neck of the woods. You were great and I am so glad that you were the host, and that our folks here got to see a glimpse of how nice the WSLS team really is. Hope to see you again at another event real soon. Take care and Be Blessed!
