I won my age group in the Johnny CASA 5miler & 5k walk on Saturday morning… and I was the ONLY female in my age group.. but I had a great run… my time was 40:06 minutes flat for 5 miles… that is an 8.01 per mile pace which is one of my better runs…
The rain was fairly steady during the race and at one point toward the end it was raining so hard and the wind was blowing it sideways… I was really impressed that about 100 people came out for the run and walk and even with the rain we all had a good time… one of the race volunteers on the course yelled out toward the end… at least you are cool… I was so hot by that time all I could think was - I’m not cool but I am soaking wet..
There is something about a race event that brings people together.. not just for the cause it represents (in this case Franklin County CASA) but also for the support you get from perfect strangers during your run or walk… as people run by we all yell out things like… “Good Job” or “Looking Good” we all know the run is challenging and that little pep talk from someone who is feeling the same “pain” you are feeling gives a little boost to your stride and keeps you going until the end… Good job to everyone who participated!
