This morning on my way to the gym I needed my sunglasses… I was there for about an hour… when I walked out it was like someone had dimmed the lights… no sunglasses needed and it was much cooler… Jeff told us yesterday to get ready for some big changes but even with the heads up it is still hard for me to get used to the change…
Just two weeks ago Matt and I were wake-boarding… last weekend wasn’t warm enough and it doesn’t look like this one will be good for any water sports either… I may have “boarded my last wake” for the season… Jeff was saying the other day that this time of year we usually have one small warm streak before the chill really hits so we’ll see…
The weekend is getting close quickly.. Tomorrow I will be at Lord Botetourt High School for our Fridayfootball.com tailgate.. the fun starts on WSLS at 5:00pm and lasts through our 90 minutes of local news.
While the weekend is looking a little cool and cloudy I think Matt and I may head to the Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival.. then we’ll be cheering on the Hokies against Nebraska Saturday night at 8:00pm.

With the leaves starting to turn, cooler temps and birds gathering to migrate, a bike ride on the New River Trail is an excellent choice for a weekend trip. I recommend getting on at the Fries extension and turning left when you get to the trail proper. That takes you quickly to the two dams on the river.
If you decide to go to the right and cross the bridge, make sure you have a flashlight with you, the tunnel in that direction is long and completely dark!
