Today has been really busy… I was in early this morning but left the house already running late for the day… it is an awful feeling but after making some phone calls in the car I felt a lot better… got to work… went to Bedford for an interview… as I was in the car I was making calls to see if our local doctors are seeing an increase in young women being diagnosed with melanoma as new national research has found a dramatic increase in women and no change in men over the last thirty years…
In between interviews I ate lunch at my desk as I was catching up on e-mails and decided I had about 20-25 minutes and that I was going to make the most of it… with not time for a work out I pulled my tennis shoes out of my gym bag and headed downtown to get an iced coffee and some fresh air… along the way I passed plenty of people out and about.. including City of Roanoke Police Officer Curry (pictured on the horse) - she and Officer Davis who is not pictured were so nice to talk to… I explained that I work for WSLS and like to add photos to my blogs… both explained they recognized me and were happy to be part of today’s thoughts… I am sure the officers and horses were enjoying a break from the humidity like the rest of us…
My long winded point is that even finding 20 or 25 minutes to break away from the daily thinking, writing, adding, subtracting… whatever you do… can give that little mental boost you need to get through the rest of the day…
