Olympics are almost over

In some ways it seems like the Olympics just started but when you think about it… there have been so many major moments that in some ways it is hard to believe so many events have been crammed into the last few weeks…
When I think about some of my favorite events… swimming didn’t come to mind until this year… I jumped on the Phelps bandwagon and watched my mom stand up in my living room cheering and clapping as he was swimming for his 7th gold medal.. he really made that segment of the Olympics very exciting… while his accomplishments got my attention… once I started looking at the amazing skills of all of the swimmers.. I had a whole new appreciation for the endurance and strength it takes to compete…
Beach volleyball is another one of my favorite events… both the men’s and women’s competition… it is amazing to see two people work so well to save what appear to be dead balls… one takes a dive.. keeps the ball alive and then recovers fast enough to nail the scoring spike…
The stories of this year’s athletes were probably no less amazing than many of those in year’s past but this year I felt like I enjoyed them more… many of you have told me you stay up with us every night to see the competitions and then stay up with us late late night for the news… thanks for watching WSLS
