Sunday night I was upstairs and heard Matt and Luckie come in from outside…Matt says, “Hey Karen, Luckie got into something… I’m not sure what it is…“

I drop the clothes I am packing for our beach trip which isn’t until next week and start running down the steps…Matt senses my urgency and says he’s okay but what is that on his face?  He says, “I saw him rolling in the grass do you think it is…“  (you can fill in the blank here.)

I bend down to smell his snout to see what we are dealing with and there is no foul odor… Matt and I look at each other and can’t help but laugh because Luckie is so oblivious to the strange markings he has suddenly picked up…

I grab some of his shampoo and a washcloth and to my surprise the black soot comes of as easily as he must have acquired it… I started thinking what could this be?  Then, it occurred to me that we have a small fire pit in the back yard for roasting marshmallows etc… and he must have grazed a piece of charred wood… he didn’t like getting his face washed very much… I was just thankful it wasn’t grease or oil… he wouldn’t have stood still long enough for me to get that off…
