Matt and I were busy on Sunday taking care of some things around the house… we drove to Blacksburg to drop off a lawnmower for my brother… got to hang out with my family for a little bit and then we came back home… once we got back we were trying to decide what to do for the rest of the evening…
Everyone keeps talking about how great the Batman movie is so we thought about doing that…checked the paper and the theater closest to us was showing it at 7:00pm… we checked the time… it’s 6:40pm… with no time for dinner first and no desire to have buttered popcorn as a meal… we decided to rent a movie…
We went to a local restaurant for dinner… quick and easy… so then we go to our local grocery store to rent a DVD from one of those movie vending machines… we click through screen after screen of titles that we have never heard… movies that we have heard are good but are out…. and the few movies we have actually seen in a theater are now on DVD… basically nothing of interest…we meander out of the store and back to the car…
Matt is a real estate appraiser so he wanted to go drive by a property he is working on.. when he asked if I minded I thought heck no… flipping through TV channels at home was not appealing to me and it was a nice evening for a drive…
As we were driving the sky kept getting redder and redder… it was so beautiful we couldn’t help but stare at it… we saw a family of deer grazing in a field.. I couldn’t get close enough with my cell phone camera for that picture… and he pointed out familiar places from his childhood.. it was so much fun… better than any movie or TV show… just spending time with my best friend.. enjoying a beautiful sunset..

I have fond memories of Sunday drives with the family. Lately rising fuel prices have turned Sunday drives into Sunday walks and I was reminded of something I learned by accident long ago. If you really want to have a conversation with someone, take a walk with them.
