A couple of weeks ago I blogged about how much fun I had with my husband on a “Sunday drive” - below is the response I got from one reader…
“I have fond memories of Sunday drives with the family. Lately rising fuel prices have turned Sunday drives into Sunday walks and I was reminded of something I learned by accident long ago. If you really want to have a conversation with someone, take a walk with them.“
There is truth in the above statement… I mean walking is a great way to catch up with a friend or loved one… we stay so busy and so caught up in the day to day deadlines we have to live by.. but really if we don’t take time to talk with the people around us we are missing out on so much.. aren’t we?
Matt and I both stay very busy and a lot of our conversations are over cell phones but we always take the time to leave each other a little note… since our schedules are virtually opposite… When I get home the first thing I do is go to the kitchen counter where we keep a notepad to see what Matt has written… sometimes we leave messages like…“I watered the deck plants front and back” or “I took Luckie for a walk at 1:20 before work” but the best notes are often those with the fewest words… the other night Matt’s note to me simply said…“Sleep tight sweetie… Love, M”
I always make time to leave him a message and he always does the same… I find any message from a loved one is meaningful and each time I read one I get a little smile on my face… you don’t have to spend every second with your companion to be happy in my book… I am thankful for all of the moments we get in person and on paper…
