Today I picked up my packet for the half marathon tomorrow… the picture is of the really awesome windbreaker that comes with the entry fee… I have been told that you are not supposed to wear it in the actual race.. apparently that is not cool but it apparently is cool to wear it after you have finished the race… I can’t wait to be wearing it tomorrow :)
I will be the first to admit that I am a little bit obsessed with fitness… working-out and eating healthy. I look forward to my Women’s Health Magazine that comes in the mail every month… after that I look forward to getting my Shape magazine… I really am interested in the latest information about what may help make a work-out more efficient or what food may be a “magic” source for a particular antioxidant or disease fighting compound… I know studies are constantly changing but I usually find at least a couple of fitness tips that I incorporate into my regimen to some degree…
Well, I have been training for the Star City Half Marathon which is tomorrow morning at 9:00am in Roanoke…. and the one thing about training for a 13.1 mile run is that the day before the race you can eat just about anything you want… I typically eat a diet filled with lean meats… fresh fruits and veggies with a limited amount of sugar and complex carbohydrates… since I am “carb-loading” today I would call this “Free For All Friday”
I treated myself to lunch at a local restaurant where I picked up two Cinnamon Crunch bagels for breakfast in the morning (one for me.. one for Matt) - then I met Matt for dinner where I feasted on salad, several bread sticks almost an entire bowl of ziti and came back to the station to doughnut night which I typically avoid and had two doughnuts… this may sound a little like a binge but again I am calling it “carb loading” and I know tomorrow when I am on mile eleven with 2.1 to go I will be happy to have the energy stores… even if carb-loading isn’t as useful as I believe it to be the psychology of it gets me through a long race…
Mid 20s for a start in the morning… wish me luck :)
