I took this photo from our deck… Matt and I will often sit outside and just enjoy the view… as we were hanging out this weekend… he remarked look at those clouds they look like mountains… and sure enough the outline of the clouds is almost a perfect shadow of the mountains…
Whenever we go somewhere that doesn’t have what I sometimes call sleeping giants… at first I don’t realize how much I miss them… but after returning from the beach there is a safe feeling that came over me as I looked around and at every angle there is a mountain… “Smith” “Sugarloaf” “Peaks of Otter”... many of them have names and those names make them that much more familiar…
I call them sleeping giants because from some of the highest views it looks like a blanket of green or red, yellow, orange and brown… covering a giant… the color of the quilt of course depends on the season…
Being that I am from Blacksburg… I am no stranger to our beautiful landscapes but It’s views like this that bring me peace and cause me to be so thankful to live close to home.
