A Roanoke man is in police custody after he enters a teenager’s dressing room at Valley View Mall.
32-year-old Ryan Jason Sink is facing four different charged including abduction, aggravated sexual assault, assault and battery, and impeding arrest.
Police say on Sunday, September 28, Sink entered the dressing room of a 16-year-old girl and pulled a knife.
An Abercrombie and Fitch store employee forced open the dressing room door after the victim said she was not okay. That’s when Sink ran away.
Mall security didn’t catch the suspect, but around 4:30 p.m. Roanoke City Police arrested Sink in the parking lot outside the mall.
This incident worries some young women.
“I just can’t believe it, especially in the mall with security and all the people around walking around helping customers,” said Chrissy Sensabaugh, a regular shopper at Valley View.
“I’m just shocked that anything like that could happen, because it’s never entered my mind that someone could break into a dressing room,” Caton Savage said, a 17-year-old shopper.
Ten On Your Side spoke to the General Manager of Valley View Mall and she wouldn’t talk to us on camera about Sunday’s incident, because this is police matter now. However, she says customer safety is a top priority.
We also tried to reach Abercrombie and Fitch several times and got no response from them.

Did you notice the “break” our Common Wealth attorney’s office gave this sick person in 2007? yeah.. 2007. Rape, sodomy, with a firearm… 6 months!! Also in a public parking garage…
Now… why don’t we investigate why we are so willing in Roanoke to give a plea agreement out even when evidence and witnesses are stacked up against an offender?
A little digging and you will be shocked at what you find…
The Police lock em up…
The courts let them out…

oh the lies
1. Valley view has a no chase policy (unwritten). The Mall manager does not want security to even run in the mall because it does not look good on the mall. If they do run they are to run in the corridors…
2. If they are so concerned about the shoppers why did the mall ERMC Security remove security Cameras from the mall common area, and why did they just get done cutting Security Officer Jobs?
3. ERMC will only bar sommeone from the property for a period of one year, that really saves us as customers. (minus one case when a lady dislocated the retna of a security sgt.)
4. Why did the mobile unit not see this person who stayed on the lot for over one hour!?
Get real and maybe someone should look these things up and find out the truth on some stuff that goes on with Valley View Mall, certainly Security! Try getting records on some of the things thats happened.
