American Electric Power CEO says his company is working hard to be more environmentally friendly.

At a meeting of shareholders Tuesday at Hotel Roanoke, President and CEO Michael Morris says changes are in the works.

Right now, they are planning to add 1,000 watts of wind power to their eastern coverage area, plus create a new way for batteries to store wind and solar energy

“We’re pushing the technology envelope.  I would argue we’re doing our fair share to make the power as green as we can, keeping an eye on the cost though, because that is very important to our customers,” said Morris.

AEP provides electricity in eleven different states.  This was the first time in 25 years the shareholders meeting was held in Roanoke.
