The holiday season is just around the corner. Girls and boys in our area lined up to audition for the Nutcracker Ballet.
The Southwest Virginia Ballet held auditions at Tanglewood Mall on Sunday.
About 100 children aged seven to 11 tried out. All of them were hoping to take one of the 70 open slots.
Through all the talented dancers, the big question was…Who will be playing the reindeer, angels, and other extras in the show?
The executive director of the ballet tells us what he’s looking for.
“Behavior is important along with the enthusiasm and also a willingness and desire to make all the rehearsals. These kids will rehearse from the next two weeks all the way to December, so it’s a big committment,“ said Mike Lawson.
This is the 12th year the company has performed the Nutcracker in the Roanoke Valley.
