Court documents 10 On Your Side uncovered this morning reveal new details about what a murder suspect told police, following a deadly parking lot shooting in Salem.

The murder happened outside a Food Lion on Wildwood Road Tuesday afternoon.  Investigators say James Fleshman was shot to death.  Police charged Brian Sheppard with Fleshman’s murder.

According to the court documents, Sheppard admitted to police he shot a man in Salem 15 times.

The same paperwork shows Fleshman called 911 minutes before the shooting, and told the dispatcher he was having problems with Brian Sheppard.  The documents also show Fleshman told dispatch that Sheppard was getting into a black Jeep right before contact was lost.

Moments later, there were reports of a shooting.

Police tracked Sheppard down in Montgomery County, where he was arrested.  That’s when police say Sheppard told investigators that he shot a man.  Police found several rounds of ammunition in Sheppard’s Jeep.

Investigators tells us they think a lover’s triangle is what led to the shooting.
