Some Roanokers want the best for their dogs. The Roanoke Dog Park Steering Committee held a fundraiser on Sunday for the proposed 1-acre dog park at Highland Park. Money will be used for fences, benches, and fountains. The canines hogged all the attention at the show during their “talent” competition. Big or small, the dogs and their owners relaxed or ran around to take advantage of the nice weather.
“We thought it was important for people to come out and see the proposed 1-acre site within the dog park and it’s a great opportunity for the neighborhood to see that the dog park and the neighborhood can peacefully coexist,“ said Vickie McCormick with the steering committee.
Committee members say they’re halfway to their fundraising goal of $30,000.
