The Franklin Co. Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting.
It happened at a home on Route 116 in the Franklin Co. side of Windy Gap Mountain around 12:00 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies say they responded to a call for trespassing and drunk and disorderly conduct.
When they arrived at the scene, they found 54-year-old Kathy Watts.
Watts was armed with a handgun and showed the deputy the gun in a “threatening manner.“
The deputy proceeded to fire shots at Watts and seek cover.
Neither Watts nor the deputy were hit.
Watts was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital and is expected to be OK.
The deputy’s name is not being released at this time.
