Seven drum corps took the field in Salem Tuesday night for the Summer Music Games but this year it took more than ever to get them there.
It takes five tour buses, a mobile kitchen and equipment trailer to get the Glassmen from Toledo, Ohio to their shows.
They’re doing fewer of them this summer because gas prices are just so high.
“We are expecting to travel 10,000 miles this summer which is down considerably from previous year from costs. Primarily the cost of gas is significantly affecting it.“, says Helen Tyrybon, who travels with the Glassmen.
The Glassmen traveled 16,000 miles last summer.
