Roanoke Police make an arrest in a more than a three-month old murder.

A grand jury has charged Jesse Corbin, Jr. with murder.

He’s accused of killing 89-year-old George Rogers in his home some time before August 18th.

Clovis Rogers, George’s ex-wife and dear friend didn’t just celebrate the warm and festive Thanksgiving,

“Not to have him here and the family here has been pretty bad,” said Clovis Rogers.

Rogers and her family are satisfied with the arrest, but believe it’s only the beginning for investigators.

“We all think there is somebody else involved in it besides this one person, but I am glad to hear that they have him and that he is in jail,” Rogers said.

Corbin is the same person caught by the victim’s son driving his father’s car on Orange Avenue the day the body was found.

“My son [was] there talking to the detectives, he said, there comes my daddy’s car right there,” said Rogers.

George Rogers’ son followed Corbin, that was until he wrecked the car and ran off.

Clovis Rogers couldn’t say for sure if George Rogers knew 19-year-old Corbin, but that the investigation led them to believe the suspect and possibly others were after his cash.

“They were after some money or something, because the sofa was there and was cut in the middle like they were looking for something, the house was a complete mess,” she explained.

Corbin isn’t due in court until early next year.
